It’s 2015 and the evolution of smartphones continues at a blistering pace. And just when we thought there was a phone that could reign supreme for at least a year, wham! Another joins the fray. Well, the latest mantle of best smartphones in 2015 (and therefore to date), has the likes of Samsung Galaxy Edge+, iPhone 6S Plus, and HTC One M9 jostling for places. Another entrant to that list of smartphones bordering on jewelry is the LG G4.
For a while now, the mobile division of South Korean phone maker LG has been lagging and was stirred back to life when they unleashed the LG G3. Things have not been the same since. Especially after they followed it up with this bad boy, a beast of a phone that will make a statement whenever you whip it out. What’s more, it’s the first LG phone that will be getting the Android Marshmallow update.
But even in all its magnificence, the G4 is not exempt from spelling mistakes when you get down to typing, thanks to you know what. It helps matters to know how to turn off autocorrect on a phone as this. Let’s walk you through, shall we?
Disable Autocorrect on your LG G4
Open any application that displays the keyboard.
Tap and hold the button on the left of your Space Bar (it has an icon resembling a mic – the dictation key).
Select Settings by tapping on the gear option.
You’ll encounter a pane labeled Smart Typing. Choose Predictive Text and disable it.
The LG G2 is a powerful smartphone that was LG’s response to Samsung’s 2013 Galaxy S4 and HTC One, a year that saw us introduced to ultra-powerful phones many couldn’t have envisioned.
We may be in 2015 and two years into its introduction but the G2 is still a smartphone that boasts enviable specs that would be the envy of many, save for the geek who’s after the latest gadget on the market. In fact, this large yet wieldy phone can be credited for making the Korean giant relevant in the smartphone world again (this and probably the Nexus 4 and 5).
But a review is not the reason we are here today but rather, to know how to turn off predictive text on the LG G2.
Steps to Turn off Auto Correct
Turning off predictive text or spellcheck on the LG G2 is very simple.
Go to Settings.
Select Language and input.
Choose LG keyboard.
On the right you’ll see a gear icon. Tap on it and go to Word suggestion/Auto correction. Uncheck it and your problem should go away.
For anyone looking to turn off word suggestion, just follow the same procedure.
The autocorrect feature was designed with the aim of simplifying things for you, and more so when hard keyboards were replaced with the touch-sensitive screen. However, it is not lost to many that misunderstandings could easily crop up and if you are not used to auto correction, you definitely don’t want it happening with parties like your mum, or boss.
The LG G3 can particularly be trouble because predictive text comes in different levels that go all the way to ‘aggressive’, the worst kind. Turn off autocorrect and it’s a great phone the G3. Here’s how to go about it:
Fire up the menu app and head over to Settings.
Under Settings find the Language and Input
One of the options here includes LG Keyboard. On its right is a gear icon. Tap it and look for the Auto-correction option which includes Off/Mid/Moderate/Aggressive.
To turn off autocorrect completely, choose Off.
Alternatively, you could also do it like this:
Launch any app that requires the use of the keyboard (Messaging, Email etc.)
Look for the Voice icon then tap and hold it for a few seconds.
Look for the Settings cog and tap it to view all your keyboard settings.
A list will appear that includes Auto-correction.
Disable autocorrect by turning it to Off.
